Early morning my husband was there at the porch outside of the house and noticed that the garbage container was down on the ground again. Who else could be the suspect? A dog? Perhaps a bear? It's one of the days that bears are roaming around outside their comfort zone looking for food. As I said hibernation is over. Actually with the hot weather temperature this week seems like spring is over and summer is in. Have you notice that too many bugs around too? Too many yellow jackets, bumble bees, flies and beetles.
Yesterday while I was watering the veggies at the backyard and suddenly the water hose fell on the ground hitting a bug. Would you believe that the bug was actually a 3 inches moth. How the hell the moth appeared on that part of the ground when I didn't see anything flying or seen it before until the water hose hit it down. I was chasing the white butterfly (cabbage butterfly) that is flying around the garden for photography and suddenly there's that hairy moth or maybe it's a butterfly that needs extra introspection? Looks like the moth has just finished its metamorphosis or about to leave its pupa. What could be the stage? Do you think the moth is in its early stage of its life as in coming of age? I'd better let you see the pictures.
The moth is alive. I first thought it's a dry dead moth. This could be the hawk moth or the emperor moth. Who knows? It's hard to know because the wings are not spread properly. I went inside the house to continue my housework and returned to where I let the moth stayed and relax and then got the shock to see a snake on the ground 4 feet away from where I was standing. I was screaming like hell rushing towards the open door of our kitchen and locked the door immediately. OMG! I first thought I'll have a heart attack. Am I over-acting? Not really. I hate snake of all kinds whether they are garden snakes or what but how the snake stood like in a position of a cobra that's freaking hellish. My husband said that there's no venomous snakes in Vancouver island and in Canada. I didn't take a photograph of that snake with yellow, brown, black stripes on its skin. How could I? I ran away from such snake. I never thought had that adrenaline rush but you know a snake is a snake is a snake!!!!!!
Well, it's not only bears, grizzly bears we have to be aware of in every parts of the island but snakes. Although people here at the island are not bothered about snakes because they said garden snakes are harmless. Really?! Maybe these people are unafraid because they haven't seen a real snake right before their eyes. I know they will scream and get nervous too when the snakes are in front of them.
