Most Filipinos are very respectful of their elders or those who are older than them. There are many ways of showing how very important those elders, to their own parents, grandparents, and older siblings, older aunts and older uncles.
How younger generations showed their respect:
1. The use of the proverbial words PO and HO. Every sentence or every statement has "po" or "ho." This is a sign of respect that the ones who is uttering those two words are younger than the other one. If you are younger than the older one you must add the word "po" or "ho" in verbal communication, well, even in written communication.
2. Kissing the hands of elders is also a sign of respect. Kissing the face is not actually part of the old custom and tradition.
3. Holding the hand of the elder (parent, aunt, uncle, grandpa or grandma) and let the hand touch your forehead is also a sign of respect.
Respect is given and you are blessed. There are many ways you can show how you respect your elders, it is not only by adding po and opo, ho or oho just to make you feel being respectful of your elders but if you used it for somebody who is just your age level then that's not a sign of respect, that's being OA and being WTF, I hate your drama. lol. No, not really funny though. Sorry.
There are many ways you can show your respect, by being KIND. Kindness is next to Godliness. Just be good and be kind. Kindness symbolizes many attributes of being human with remorse. Kindness is more pleasing, much better and more welcoming and you don't have to humiliate, embarrass somebody else that the other person is really very OLD. Nobody likes being old.
Are you that old that to be respected you want that PO & HO? Those words sound foul words or maybe I'm not used to say those words. PO reminds me of F.O. and HO sounds like a _oe!
If that resembles your game...I am not in your game.
