The nights are longer since the Winter Solstice and 8 AM feels like 8 PM in Vancouver island. Still dark sky out but the snow is visible on the ground. The works of city workers must go on shoveling snow and plowing snow.
Flights are cancelled in Vancouver main airport and BC Ferry cancelled their sailings. So if I were you better check the schedule of those flights and sailings first before you head out to travel. It is unsafe to travel because of the snowstorm and the slippery icy snow on roads and highways.
There's possibility of rainfall tomorrow or on Sunday. Well hope so... maybe.
We don't really know what Mother Nature has to offer.
