My sister Ems had given me a younger banana plant. Is it really the tropical banana plant? I almost forgot what the banana plant looks like that's why have to see to believe and there it is with five flat green leaves. I remember when I used to write on those flat leaves making use of its availability as lined pads. There are so many uses (usage) of such leaves including wraps for "pinais" (chopped shrimps with young coconut meat with chopped or minced garlic + spices - indeed a very delicious viand), the leaves are also used for wrapping anchovies or small variety of fish steamed hot on boiling water.
My father has several banana trees in his garden and they are healthy, tall trees bearing lots of banana fruits. There are two kinds of banana he planted in his garden such as "saba and tundan."
Banana plant or tree is a tropical plant that needs tropical weather temperature or more so on hot climate. The odds of looking and caring after this plant is scary at the point that praying is also a part of raising it just like raising palm trees.
Right now, the weather temp. outside is 4 d. C only and the temp. inside our house is 14 d. C. without heat gas fireplace or without electric heat. Would you believe? When the thick insulation is giving every house, every home the much needed "natural heat" then what else could be giving the hit?
Anyway, I don't want to increase the thermostat. The heating is off already. Anything that is over 15 d. Celsius temp. is a cause for migraine. Sorry banana! You'll have the light but 14 d. C. is better for the home.
