Keeping Busy

I think my hubby missed gardening. I mean a garden in the backyard where he can plant some veggies such as tomatoes, swiss chards, beans, cabbage, pumpkins, and herbs. Hey, we had a garden before, last year to be exact and many years ago. There is a piece of backyard lot where you can plant some herbs but that yard is not intended for garden because the owner of the townhouse wants a bermuda grass growing on the lawn, frontyard and backyard. I can't even plant florals anymore. That's okay, don't need to suffer allergy.

In another townhouse where my husband has finished its spring cleaning yard works, weeding out those bushes and thorny shrubs. Thorns, lots of thorns and spiky needles from cedar and spruce-like needles, he came home with scratches on his arms and hands, he was bleeding. I asked him, "why he doesn't wear clothes that cover his arms and hands?" His only answer was, "it's too hot!" Darn it. 31 units of the townhouse with spiky shrubs growing outside the yard, with maple trees and birch to do the pruning every year, lawns to get the right maintenance it needs. I don't think he needs a garden here where we live. But you know, gardening is sometimes a form of relaxation. My own father feels certain kind of happiness when he attends to his garden.

What to appreciate is to just stare and look at neighbor's plants, trees and floral. I admire their dogwood trees full of white flowers, magnolias, lilacs, azaleas, cherry blossoms (OMG! I missed our cherry blossoms trees in Greystone) and hey would you believe I spotted a rare jacaranda tree! I was shocked for a while because how can jacaranda grows in this island, in Canada? Oh my, when I get closer to see the tree, noticed that the leaves are not fern-like. It was a blue angel trumpet (with mini trumpets) not with huge trumpet like flowers. The huge trumpet flowers are product of devil's trumpet tree. 😁 OMG! That tree is probably been frequently visited by hummingbirds.

My plan of having a beautiful garden is out of nowhere. Forget about gardening. There are many things to reconsider and keep myself busy.
