DECEMBER... December... everyone's going gaga over the Holidays. Shopping spree here and there and some of them are shopping till they drop, as in panic buying for the best deals. Others are shopping online with better deals.
Me? I am not in the panic buying or hysteria. I just don't know what to do on a "tight budget." LOL. For as long as there is food on the table then there's no panic here at home.
When it comes to gift-giving? Now, we have huge problem. For those who don't have the money to splurge on gifts then no gifts whatsoever. Rest- assured greeting cards are the next best thing. How much is a greeting card? Price range to $1.00 to $12.00. I know that's cheap eh? But at least be nice. Nobody gives Christmas card anymore because for some people that's costly! lol. If greeting card is worth $12 to $15 better buy a box of chocolates instead. Then think about the cost of gift wrapper, scotch tape or gift bag. Total cost of the gift-wrapped item with bow $20.
Ha ha! Being stingy? Not really! Everybody loves chocolates.
Have you heard of several people who would give gifts from the thrift shop? I had watched it on TV News about some people would probably give gifts bought from the thrift shop. Hmm, don't frown about it especially if the gifts are brand new or vintage craft or vintage ceramic and pottery. A lot of stuff from thrift shops are donated by so many department stores that shutdown or had closed its business. You just have to sort out some of those items. Some times if you're lucky, those thrift shop items could be signature brand of pre-loved imported bags, shoes, and fashion clothes.
Anyway, there are certain gifts that are much needed as in depend on what personality or character of the receiver. Other gifters would give generously as in lavishly if they have enough surplus. Some humans who never give anything suddenly become generous and that's what you call miracle!
Oh well whatever is available and did it occur to you that you have those gifts that you received last year and don't know what to do about them? Yes, you can re-wrap it once again and give it to whoever needs it. Be resourceful. Be creative.
GIFT-GIVING nowadays should be on the expectation that the receiver will use it and cherish the gifts because you the giver has a message that Hey, IT'S BETTER THAN NOTHING.
How it feels when you don't receive anything on Christmas Day?
Think of the economic crisis at our present generation when millions of people line up at the Food Banks. Think of the many unemployed and people on fixed income and if they are employed they only wait paycheque to paycheque to make both ends meet. No surplus and no savings. Think that you are not alone in this current situation that it is okay not to give and not to receive.
So whatever things you received materially (expensive or not) SMILE & BE THANKFUL for you are as important as anybody else.
