I was able to watch the Celebration of CANADA DAY from out TV: CBC News Network. The celebration happened at the Parliamentary Hill in Ottawa where a big stage was built for all the entertainers to perform in front of thousands of people dressed in red and white. PM Carney gave his remarkable speech and so as MP Mark Miller, the new Governor General Hon. Louis Arbour, the astronaut Jeremy Hansen, not to forget the former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was there too to celebrate (just him, without Katy Perry). The Head of the First Nations and other members of the Indigenous community were there as well dressed in their Native costumes. Everybody's doing great and everything seems alright until the heatwave has turned into sudden abrupt changed of weather. Thunderstorms! Almost everybody run for cover, shades and shelter and some people were able to keep themselves in the nearby building hoping they wont get wet however, even if those people with handheld umbrellas were unable to cover themselves...they too got wet with the sudden downpour.
That was really for the book, quite sad. There are many performers , live bands who are supposed to perform until the night and until the fireworks however the weather did not cooperate! Unpredictable weather that is that the fireworks the most awaited fireworks were cancelled. I know some kids, young adults, the oldies probably were very frustrated of the event rattled with upsetting unforgiving weather.
This kind of event will probably give us a lesson to learn that maybe an "indoor" or covered stadium will be the next option for the next celebration. For the fireworks? You cannot have fireworks when there's thunderstorm. Hazards beware!
Other provinces and big cities were able to celebrate without much hassles. Campbell River had their annual fireworks and concert stage performers such as the Troopers (We're in Here For A Good Time) & Creedence. When it comes to celebrating Canada Day, Campbell River is the most popular city to go to. People from Vancouver, Victoria, Nanaimo & Courtney-Comox came to see Campbell River for the celebration. They have organized parade all what you can expect in special event. Of course they usually have that huge cake and bbq salmons and the Woodcarving contest at James Park & the most awaited Fireworks at Robert Ostler Park formerly Foreshore Park! The event coordinators and organizers of this special event were the same enthusiastic, well experienced, hardworking people since year 2000 and beyond so everything turned out so great. You should thank Carol Chapman for her great effort to make this celebration possible.
