I LOVE PHOTOGRAPHY! There are multitudes of mesmerizing, amazing and incredible photo images out there and sometimes they are magnanimous in proportions because of the art of photography and the highly skilled photographers.
I must admit I am one of those novice or amateurs when it comes to the art of photography however I am learning it day by day until I find the most interesting subject, best angle and the best lighting.
PHOTO MEANS LIGHT. To have a very remarkable outstanding photo images you need perfect lighting. Although there are images that appear to be photogenic even in darkness and they are one of a kind as they carry their own light.
I must admit hummingbirds are the most difficult subject for photography. It's hard to capture the angle of their existence. Sometimes they can hide in the bushes like with a chameleon mechanism not to fall against prey.
I decided to attach twigs to the feeder from our blackberry vines so that the hummingbird will stay for few minutes before it flies to the berry to the lilac tree. That's the usual routine path of this hummingbird. The remarkable attitude of this one hummingbird is its despicable territorial habit that it cannot let other hummingbird feeds on that one particular feeder. It belongs to her alone! She chased away other hummingbirds out.
Look at the wings, almost invisible as it flaps its wings 50-60 beats per second.
Yes it's true that Vancouver Island's the best place to find unique hummingbirds. But the most beautiful, exotic hummingbirds can be found in South America - their native origin.
Their favorite resting place and favorite flowers to be around with: Lilacs, berry vines, or on plants and with trumpet-like flowers such as vermillions, kalachuchi (frangepani), bleedinghearts and foxgloves.
