Yey! It's Saturday today and hopefully it is a warm day full of sunshine. Our yard is almost too soggy and muddy for the dogs to play on.
A friend of mine asked me if I eat sushi so I told her, "yes I eat sushi and I also know how to make sushi from scratch." It's easy for as long as you have the complete ingredients. My favorite sushi ingredients would always be crab flakes and shrimps with avocado, cucumber, spring onions, sticky rice dipped on kikkoman sauce. If you don't have kikkoman sauce, try the soy sauce added with lime juice. Yum!
Usually or typically every time you eat Japanese foods, hot tea is served at the table, well only if you like. This is also so true with having Chinese foods. Maybe tea helps in the digestion process to prevent bloating. Well depends on how you perceive things. Drinking tea is great when you eat too much bread, noodles and other foods made from flour.
So, PM Carney had a trade deal signed sealed with Japan's new leader. The PM Carney was welcomed and respected by the Japanese and everything's going smoothly. So what's next? Is he coming back to Canada? Too much traveling Mr. Carney! Last year, most of the Premiers for the provinces of Canada had traveled to those destinations. Premier David Eby had traveled to several countries in Asia to promote trade & commerce. While Premier of Saskatchewan had traveled with the Prime Minister to promote canola. Premier Doug Ford hasn't travel away from Ontario but Ontario is more visited by tourists around the world because it's the home of the famous Niagara Falls and the Toronto Blue Jays baseball team. Sometimes, you don't need to travel JUST ADVERTISE.
Commercial or advertisements on TV can reach out globally. In the 80's Canada had advertise immigration in HongKong. The ad on TV is almost frequently seen more often than not. If you had read the pages of National geographic which featured most HongKong wealthy businessmen all of a sudden packed their bags before the 90's and head for Canada to migrate then its because of the TV ADVERTISEMENTS. And thus Richmond became their "home." Did you know that every country in the world has "Chinatown?" A Chinatown is more like a place or streets where group of Chinese families live in peace and harmony and manage to set up business favorable to its location. In Philippines, we have a Chinatown located in Ongpin. It is known for Chinese jewelry stores, arts and craft stores, textiles, fruits and veggies stalls, drugstores for ancient herbal medicines (more like Kowloon). They still have horse-drawn carriages in there just like Victoria, BC. In Chinatown, you live in that house and can set up a store within that house isn't that's what happening in Philippines? That's the reason why it is easy to make money in Philippines. You can set up a barbecue stall in front of your house and bingo! You have money!! When I was younger, in the 70's I sold bags of ice and ice candy with different flavors: buco, grapes, orange, mango. Only few families had refrigerators way back then. Money earned becomes my student allowance.
In Canada? You cannot install a store in your house. You can have a yard sale or garage sale.
Hmm, Filipinos should also build a "FilipinoTown." Oh, you know what? There is a FilipinoTown in Las Vegas (USA). Why in Vegas? Maybe so many of them are employed in the restaurant and entertainment business that's why.
It seems like Filipinos would rather want a festival sort of showcasing Filipino foods and entertain people in a once a year feast. For whatever reason their first "fiesta" (Lapu-Lapu Filipino Festival) was abruptly marred with the horrible bloody massacre. The case was brought to the Court of BC. So sad madam tussad.
"Life is a box of chocolates, you'll never know what you gonna get."
So hold on... I don't like being Forrest Gump with never ending story.
Have a great day people!
